Did You Take Part In The Brony Census?

It’s always a bit concerning to us here at Brony.com when we see an article on the internet that attempts to explain or define us. In 2013, some of us still seem to have a difficult time with acceptance and open mindedness. Why? Because people dislike what they don’t understand. They’re quick to judge and their quick to talk. But not us ponies. In fact our herd has grown so rapidly in numbers since the premiere of our show in 2010, that they now need a census to count us! Did you take part? If so, write us and let us know what you think about it today. We’d love to hear from you.

Polling over twenty-thousand of us ponies over the internet, the 2013 Brony Herd Census tells those that don’t understand us Bronies, the following:

The fan base of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is mainly comprised of males. 84% of us to be exact. But there too, is also a majority of females that took part in the census. 16% to be exact. Looking at our age, us Bronies range in the age group 15 to 30, with the average of us between 19 and 20 years old. The 2013 Brony Census tells us too that most of us are single, but nearly one quarter of us are in a serious relationship. Sounds like we’re normal people to me. How does it sound to you?

The majority of us ponies live in The United States and Canada, but as we all know Bronies live in vast herds all over the world too. The census reports notable sizes of fans living in such countries as the United Kingdom, Australia, and Germany, but we all know that there are even more of us out there  than any census could count.

In addition, the census also reports that Bronies come from families more stable than the national average. Nearly 70% of us come from families that have not seen divorce or separation. Boy, us Bronies still sound like really normal average people don’t we?

Those of us between the ages of 18 to 24 are also nearly two-thirds less likely to fail out of high school. This is good news to us here at Brony.com. Oh….and nearly 70% of us plan to get a college degree in the near future, and almost 5% of us have served in the military.

Over 21% percent of us have donated to various charities created by our fellow Bronies as well.

Those that took part in the 2013 census also subjected themselves to a Jungian personality test. Carl Jung, who the test was created and named after is often considered one of the founders of modern psychology.

This aspect of the census indicated that the majority of us Bronies are classified as belonging to the I.N.T.J. category. Introversion, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judgment or I.N.T.J  is thought to occur in perhaps 1 to 3% of the general human population, while it seems to occur at something like 10 to 20 times over the normal rate in areas of pop cultural fandom.

According to the Jungian description of the typical I.N.T.J person, we are known as “System Builders” of all types, perhaps in part because we possess the unusual trait of combining imagination and reliability. We’re often called “Introverted”. But don’t let that fool you.

The term “Introversion” doesn’t have the meaning that you think it does. Remember being a kid and hearing your Grandma or Mother whispering to one of their friends, “He’s a bit introverted.”

Being introverted doesn’t mean that us Bronies are shy or that we have a fear of people, it instead refers to the direction that we as individuals draw upon. As Bronies we often draw on the strength of our inner ponies to get us threw a tough time or when we need a blast of inspiration or creative energy. Us introverts use contemplation and inner dialog as a source of motivation……Or our favorite show maybe?

So basically, what this census tells us here at Brony.com is that we Bronies are incredibly smart, caring, and compassionate individuals, and that we will someday re-invent everything in this world. But, we knew this already didn’t we?
