Yay or Nay? Would you eat a “My Little Pony” Burger?

ponyburger-laila

First off, we here at Brony.com would like to extend our sincere apologies if this article offends anyone.   We’re not exactly sure how we feel about this as of the posting of this article ourselves.

There’s a “My Little Pony’ burger that has gained some traction in Europe.   And yes, this burger is made of horse meat.    In the Europe the approach to animal consumption is very different than it is here in the United States.  In the USA we waste parts of the animals we use, whereas in Europe for many, no part of the animal goes to waste.  The My Little Pony burger has popped up in a new restaurant called Food Guerilla.    The burger is made from aged ponies from the amusement park called “Slagharen.”

Although there are many how many be offended by reading this article, it is important to note that sometimes elderly animals are considered disposable and destined for slaughter because they are deemed useless.    But in recent years there has been a movement in the Europe to use hose meat for exotic dishes as the meat is very lean and healthier than beef, some argue.

The goal here is to not waste food, and some say that horse meet is not only more healthy than beef, but in fact it tastes better as well–with a wild game flavor much in the same manner that animals that are commonly eaten in the United States like Wild Boar or Elk have when consumed.

What do you think?  Would you eat a My Little Pony burger made of horse meat?  Or is this completely sick and wrong?   Tell us what you think below in the comments.

Warning: Season 7 My Little Pony Spoilers

season-7-and-comics-of-mlp-tied-together

Writer James Asmus has just dropped somewhat of an atom bomb on Season 7 on Twitter.  The writer of the My Little Pony IDW comic books just leaked one piece of vital information regarding the the approach that Hasbro will take in Season 7.

The episodes may or may not be connected in some fashion to the IDW comic issues of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #51-53.   In all likelihood, it’s more reasonable to assume that perhaps just one or two episodes will be linked to these issues of the comic.

Check out this great cover for IDW’s Friendship is Magic #51

friendship-is-magic-52-ri-coverSometimes it’s a challenge to keep up with all the books that IDW puts out for the My Little Pony universe.  There’s IDW’s My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Friend’s Forever, Guardians of Harmony etc.

As of right now, #51 is slated for release on Feb. 22nd, 2017.   It has been written by James Asmus and as usual features covers and art by Tony Fleecs and Agnes Garbowska.

Here’s the issue’s synopsis:

“Twilight is startled to find that the most important history books in Equestria are going missing. Will she and her friends be able to uncover the identity of the mysterious new villain responsible?”

There is no preview of the issue of of today, but check back here, once we have it we’ll post it–no doubt!

Wait! What? Is Actor Billy Bob Thornton a Brony?

1116-gq-febb03-01-billy-bob-rocks-on-06-copy

In a recent interview with GQ Magazine Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton talks about how he used to watch My Little Pony with his daughter and who his favorite ponies are:

Here’s an excerpt from the interview from GQ.com:

“He and Bella used to watch My Little Pony together, and she grew out of that, but recently he longed to see it again and searched for it and found another My Little Pony, an updated tweeny kind of version, and they started watching it together. He’s been thinking about and relating to one particular multi-episode arc lately. In Ponyville, everyone has cutie marks, which are kind of like tribal tattoos on a horse’s hip—Applejack lives on an apple farm, so she has three apples on her hip. But Starlight Glimmer creates this new village where everyone instead has cutie marks that are equal signs, like: =.

“I’ll let Billy take it from here: “This was amazing because the Mane Six ponies, who are the stars of the show, they go out there because Celestia, who runs Equestria, she will tell Twilight Sparkle she needs to go somewhere, but she doesn’t tell her why.” Bear with him, it’s worth it, I promise. “So anyway, suddenly they get captured by them and told that they have to remove their cutie marks and get equal signs. But they said, you know what? No. So Fluttershy, who is my favorite because she kind of talks like Marilyn Monroe, says, ‘Oh, yes.’” (He says this like Marilyn Monroe.) “Fluttershy acts like she wants to become a member, you know? And so they give her the cutie-mark equal-sign stamp and everything. And then she notices something, like it rains, and it washes off Starlight Glimmer’s equal sign, and she’s got her own cutie mark. So she’s like a Jim Jones cult, you know, right?” Suffice it to say that Billy considers these to be essential lessons for his daughter: Don’t be like the phonies. Don’t go looking to homogenize everyone like Starlight Glimmer. Wear your own cutie mark. It’s yours. And when he can do this for his daughter—focus on ways to bring the world into focus for her—that does his anxiety more good than all the spa music and DOGTV in the world.”

We’ve seen photos of this for a couple months now circulating the internet, but we still don’t seem to have any hope that it will actually be coming to the USA or Canada.   Written by Hugh Osbourne with choreography by Jamie Neale, this DMS Production and Hasbro International Inc. are proud to present the world premiere of My Little Pony Musicial: Rainbow Rocks, adapted from Hasbro Studio’s hit animated movie.    “This fun-filled show” for ages 2 to 96 will take you on an incredible adventure as everybody’s favorite pony from the magical world of Equestria, Twilight Sparkle, joins forces with her human friends, the girls of Canterlot High School to defeat the forces of evil; while Twilight Sparkle learns, along the way, that friendship is magic!

Here’s the synopsis:

“Shake your tail down to Canterlot High School, and learn how the rainbow rocks! Those funny and fabulous Equestria Girls are getting ready to enter their band, the Rainbooms, in the Canterlot High musical showcase. But there’s trouble brewing: former bad girl Sunset Shimmer just can’t make any friends; while rival girl band, the Dazzlings, are clearly up to something. Why do they want to turn the showcase into a mighty Battle of the Bands? Are the Dazzlings planning something much more sinister? And will Sunset Shimmer ever be forgiven by the other
students at Canterlot High? There’s only one way to find out: join the Equestria Girls as they try to defeat the forces of evil, with the help of Sunset Shimmer and everybody’s favorite pony, Twilight Sparkle! Sure, friendship is magic: but to restore the harmony, the band must battle!”
